
B.J. Austin has more than 20 years of broadcast journalism experience, anchoring and reporting in Atlanta, New York, New Orleans and Dallas. She covered Atlanta City Hall, the Georgia Legislature and the corruption trials of Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards. More recently, Austin has reported on events at Dallas City Hall for more than a decade, including the American Airlines Arena vote, the FBI’s corruption investigation and arrests of public officials and the fight to save the historic Dr. Pepper building, as well as many mayoral races. Austin recently shared an Associated Press award for First Place, Spot News Coverage for her work at KRLD-AM reporting on a major fire that destroyed the Arcadia Theater in Dallas. She was also named the 2003 KRLD Programmer of the Year for her contributions to the news department. Austin sings in her church choir and is a member of The Westside Players, a theatre company that does annual productions at Central Christian Church. She has also appeared onstage at Garland Civic Theatre, Pocket Sandwich Shoppe and Dallas Repertory Theatre.
