EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE CENTER WORKSHOPS

Educational Resource Center WorkshopKERA’s Educational Resource Center will deliver quality workshops for parents, caregivers and administrators at the location of your choosing.  Each workshop listed below can be customized to meet the needs of your specific audience.  Our seasoned trainers will deliver each topic in an entertaining and interactive way that encourages participation and information retention. 

TOPICS

Ready for Life

The workshops below address the specific challenges faced by parents and caregivers of children ages 0-5.  Each participant will receive a comprehensive Participant’s Guide with additional ideas.  Click here to visit the Ready for Life web site for more information.

  • Temperament  (1-3  hours)
    Who Is My Child? identifies and explores nine basic traits of human temperament, empowering adults to help children reach their potential. One to three hours in length. 
  • Attachment and Socialization  (1-3 hours)
    Feeling Loved promotes the concept of healthy attachment, which enables children to become ready to learn.  This training also investigates the magical formation of relationship between child and caregiver.
  • Early Literacy (1-3 hours)
    Read With Me demonstrates how adults can help children acquire language and literacy skills from birth. Teaches adults effective strategies for reading with children and emphasizes that development of oral language and vocabulary is key to success in reading.
  • Nutrition and Fitness (1-5 hours)
    Little Bites, Big Steps identifies basic concepts of healthful eating and exercise habits for one- to five-year-old children, emphasizing parental influence on behavior and choice.


Math Can Take You Places™

Math Can Take You Places uses travel concepts to help students in grades 3-6 build a solid foundation of algebra readiness skills.  It targets five focus areas:  patterns, equivalency, reasonableness, measurement and problems solving.  The hands-on lessons, games, activities and videos show students how math relates to the real world.  Click here to visit the Math Can Take You Places web site for more information.

  • Classroom Module General Information Session (1-2 hours)
  • Classroom Module Professional Development Series (1-5 hours)
    Each topic listed below is its own one-hour training.  However, the workshop can be a customized mixture of these subjects to address the needs of your audience.  All attendees with receive the Math Can Take You Places CD/DVD Educator Toolkit.
    • Using Manipulatives
    • Thinking Algebraically
    • Math in Everyday Life
    • Incorporating Video
    • Using the Internet

Additional Trainings:

  • What Do You Do with the Mad That You Feel? (1-3 hours)
    The What Do You Do with the Mad that You Feel? workshop explores anger, where it comes from, and how young children can gradually learn the self-control necessary to manage their anger and channel it into productive activity. It also suggests ways to intervene when children act out or lose control.


RATES

Educational Resource Center WorkshopWorkshop rates include materials for 30 participants, all fees for workshop trainers and travel expenses within 50 miles of Dallas, Texas. 

  • $349: One hour of training
  • $429: One and a half hours of training
  • $499: Two hours of training
  • $600: Three hours of training


SCHEDULING A WORKSHOP

  • Please contact the Educational Resource Center at 214.740.9209 four weeks prior to your desired workshop date to schedule training. 
  • Dates are available on a first-come, first-served basis with scheduling depending on trainer availability. 
  • The Educational Resource Center staff can also develop quotes for costs to accommodate other training time increments, trainings that will service more than 30 participants or trainings outside of our travel radius.
