DALLAS/FORT WORTH – Charlie Morrison, president and CEO of Pizza Inn (Nasdaq:PZZI), speaks with KERA host Lee Cullum on this month’s episode of CEO. Pizza Inn opened its first pizzeria on Dallas’ Mockingbird Lane in 1958 growing to 800 franchises before falling hard and filing for bankruptcy in the late 80s. Morrison, who took over as CEO in 2007, details the strategy that led to the company’s turnaround, the subsequent rebranding of the nostalgic eatery and his plans for the company’s domestic and international growth. The chief executive also discusses the company’s celebrated launch of Pie Five Pizza Co., a fast-casual gourmet chain catering to young urbanites, stating, “It’s a new take on pizza. Today’s consumer is looking for speed and freshness. Pie Five is an opportunity for us to really change the game by allowing customers to order the pizza directly with the employee who is making it, and watch it go into an oven immediately.”

Mr. Morrison was named President and CEO of Pizza Inn in December 2007 after serving as Chief Financial Officer for the company since January 2007. Prior to that, he was President of Steak and Ale® and The Tavern Restaurants. Mr. Morrison has over 20 years of progressive experience in multi-unit retail and restaurants and has held key executive positions with Kinko’s, Boston Market and Pizza Hut during his career.
