Hour 2:  What did it take to return one of the most famous stolen paintings of World War II to its rightful owners? We’ll find out this hour with journalist Anne-Marie O’Connor, author of “The Lady in Gold: The Extraordinary Tale of Gustav Klimt’s Masterpiece, Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer” (Knopf, 2012)

Hour 1:  What are positive and effective strategies for educating children who have been deemed “problematic” in the classroom and how can parents and educators work together to improve the educational experience for these kids? We’ll talk this hour with Dr. Nancy Rappaport, assistant professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and co-author of “The Behavior Code: A Practical Guide to Understanding and Teaching the Most Challenging Students” (Harvard Education Press, 2012).

Hour 2:  What led to the current political and diplomatic situation with North Korea and what can the world expect from the country’s new leader Kim Jong Un? We’ll talk this hour with former National Security Council Director for Asian Affairs Victor Cha. His new book is “The Impossible State: North Korea, Past and Future” (Ecco, 2012).

Hour 1:  As the presidential primary race transitions into the general election season, how will Super PACs continue to influence the campaigns? We’ll talk this hour with Thomas Frank, columnist and contributing editor at Harper’s Magazine. His essay, “It’s a Rich Man’s World: How billionaire backers pick America’s candidates” appears in the current issue of Harper’s Magazine.

Hour 2:  How has U.S. security policy evolved since 9/11 and what have been the greatest successes and biggest failures along the way? We’ll talk this hour with Aki Peritz, senior national security advisor to the Third Way think tank and co-author of “Find, Fix, Finish: Inside the Counterterrorism Campaigns that Killed bin Laden and Devastated Al Qaeda” (PublicAffairs, 2012).v

Thursday, 4/12

Hour 1:  Can exposure to art improve the ability of sick or recovering patients to heal more rapidly and more completely? We’ll discuss the case for “evidence-based art” this hour with Kathy Hathorn, CEO and Creative Director, and Upali Nanda, Director of Research at American Art Resources – an organization that aims to improve the healthcare experience of patients, visitors and staff at hospitals. Hathorn and Nanda will participate in a Business Council for the Arts seminar at the Winspear Opera House this afternoon.

Hour 2:  As authoritarian rule continues to be challenged across the Middle East, what role will Islam play in the coming power structures and could a future of enlightened reason and freedom coexist with religion in the Islamic world? We’ll spend this hour with journalist Mustafa Akyol, author of “Islam without Extremes: A Muslim Case for Liberty” (W. W. Norton & Company, 2011). Akyol will speak at the Dallas Institute for Humanities and Culture this evening.
