WEDNESDAY, December 16th
Hamlet, starring Benedict Cumberbatch – Benedict Cumberbatch stars in National Theatre Live’s production of this play, and it will be broadcast live at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth thanks to Amphibian Stage Productions.
The Beulaville Baptist Book Club Presents: A Bur-Less-Q Nutcracker! – The ladies of the Beulaville Baptist Book Club have inadvertently hired a burlesque troupe to perform a holiday classic with some interesting results. See the annual hit at the Addison Conference and Theatre Centre.
THURSDAY
Frosty: Songs of Redemption, a new holiday musical – Frosty has had a rough few years, what with global warming and all. Find out how he’ll cope in this new show with music by Surprising Flavor. House Party Theatre’s production plays at Community Beer Company in Dallas.
Scene: A Fashion Concert – Head to Trees in Dallas for the Pin Show Kickoff Fashion Concert. “Scene” features 4 designers, 2 bands, and 1 DJ.
FRIDAY
Tis the Season – Epiphany DanceArts’ holiday show includes original contemporary choreography set to live music by Torrey Owens and the Rich-Tones Chorus. See the multi-media show at the Eisemann Center in Richardson.
Home – Denise Lee joins the Turtle Creek Chorale for this concert of holiday and “home-y” songs. Hear the music at the Dallas City Performance Hall.
SATURDAY
Snow – imPULSE Dance Project creates a winter wonderland with this holiday concert. The group performs by candlelight at the MCL Grand in Lewisville.
Scrooge the Musical – This musical adaptation of the Dickens classic includes photo ops with Santa and a carol sing-along before the show. Catch North Texas Performing Arts’ production at Courtyard Theater in Plano.
SUNDAY
Posada – The annual Latin American tradition of Posada continues with a procession of carolers and mariachis that ends at the Latino Cultural Center with storytelling and crafts.
Nutcracker Suite Concert – Duke Ellington gave the Tchaikovsky staple the swing treatment. Hear Ellington’s version and other Big Band arrangements of holiday classics at the Fort Worth Public Library’s Central Branch.
MONDAY
Brave Christmas at the Meyerson – The Dallas Winds teams up with Brave Combo for a very polka Christmas show! Head to the Meyerson for “Brave Christmas.”
Michael Martin Murphey’s Cowboy Christmas – It’s an evening of cowboy poetry, original music, and holiday yarns at Bass Performance Hall.
TUESDAY
Preservation Hall Jazz Band – This jazz band brings a little creole spice to your holidays in a concert at the Meyerson.
White Christmas – Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye play a song-and-dance duo who team up with singing sisters to save a failing Vermont inn. The 1954 film screens at Palace Arts Center in Grapevine.
