Welcome the merry month of March with one these cool picks from your friends at Art&Seek. If you’re feeling like a lion, take in a film festival, a play or a poetry slam. For those of you who are in more of a lamb-like mood, choose an area museum or an intimate gallery to peruse art of every medium.  Outgoing or introspective, there’s something for every taste and mood.

untitledThe Nasher Sculpture Center is kicking off a month-long celebration of their 2017 Nasher Prize Laureate, Pierre Huyghe. March will be packed with workshops, tours and family activities.  Check out their full range of events, then make plans to visit the Nasher Sculpture Center in the heart of the Dallas Arts District.

In Fort Worth, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art has a small exhibition featuring far-out works by abstract artist Gego. See “Between the Lines: Gego as Printmaker” running through August 6, 2017.

untitledThe Authors’ series focusing on the African Diaspora continues tonight at the South Dallas Cultural Center. Dallas novelist Sanderia Faye will host the event. Join in her conversation with southern writer and college professor, Kiese Laymon.

See the new show “Passing Strange.” This Tony Award-winning rock musical is about a young American artist’s self-discovery in Europe. You can discover it at Theatre Three in Uptown Dallas.

untitledThere are two new exhibitions at the South Dallas Cultural Center in Dallas. “Safe House” examines the bonds created by black women in quilting circles. The other, “Invisible: New Works by Ciara Ellen Bryant,” explores black female identity in popular culture. Both shows open tonight.

In Denton, Agua Dulce Mexican Kitchen is hosting a poetry slam. “Lend me your ears” is the theme for participating poets who’ll discuss how they communicate complex ideas and feelings.

untitledAMC Village on the Parkway 9 in Addison will host screenings for the 3rd annual Dallas/Fort Worth South Asian Film Festival. Don’t miss your chance to see dozens of features, shorts, and documentaries through the lens of South Asian subjects and filmmakers.

Bookmark your calendar to attend the North Texas Teen Book Festival. The all-day event takes place at the Irving Convention Center. Keep your pen handy. There’ll be more than 80 authors on hand for readings and book signings.

YBArt&Seek Spotlight Artist Ivan Jasso stars in Cara Mia Theatre’s production of “Yemaya’s Belly.” It’s a coming of age story about an immigrant boy’s dream to meet the President of the United States. See the Dallas premiere at the Latino Cultural Center.

Two hundred Dallasites from across the city will share the stage with professional actors for the Dallas Theater Center’s production of “The Tempest.” See Shakespeare’s great play at the Wyly Theatre.

Monday

parker‘Through Time’ is the brand new exhibition currently on display at Samuel Lynne Galleries in Dallas. It features the work of Dutch sculptor Hans Van de Bovenkamp.

The Irving Arts Center is hosting the traveling exhibition, ‘A Woman OF Two Worlds and a Man IN Two Worlds.’  The rarely seen photographs document the lives of Cynthia Ann Parker and her son, Comanche war leader Quanah Parker.

188Photography is on full display at Fort Works Art. Don’t miss the dual exhibition “One Last Shot” and “One More Shot” featuring works by Donnie Williams and Cordelia Bailey.
