KERA Remembers Bob Wilson

Robert A. Wilson, 1941-2017

KERA is proud to honor the legacy of Bob Wilson, a public broadcasting pioneer who led KERA during a defining era. Wilson took the helm as President and CEO of KERA at the age of 26, leading the station to create the nightly news program Newsroom – which launched the public broadcasting careers of journalism icons Jim Lehrer, Lee Cullum and Bob Ray Sanders – and broadcast the American premiere of Monty Python’s Flying Circus. Wilson also oversaw the launch of KERA FM, North Texas’ first public radio station. KERA News has published a story, photos and videos that chronicle his incredible life.

Through these and many other groundbreaking accomplishments, Bob Wilson has left an enduring legacy that will continue to benefit North Texans and the entire public broadcasting system for years to come.
