AT&T PAC Recruits Herbie Hancock for Fall Concert Series

ArtandSeek.net 24

Jazz legend Herbie Hancock, among others, has been announced as a performer for the AT&T Performing Arts Center’s Strauss Square fall concert series.

  • Tickets go on sale online Friday, June 16

The series, running from August to October, will feature performances by Hancock, Mexican-American singer-songwriter Lila Downs, blues musicians Taj Mahal and Keb’ Mo’, Indian tabla player Zakir Hussain, and more. Check out the full list of performers below.

Of particular note is a live “recreation” of the 2014 music documentary “Take Me to the River.” The doc follows the recording of a new collaborative album between legendary Memphis and Mississippi Delta musicians like William Bell and Bobby Rush and contemporary artists. The Oct. 1 performance will feature Bell, Rush, Charlie Musselwhite, and more.

Grammy and Latin Grammy winner Lila Downs should also be a highlight. The singer works with traditional Mexican sounds like ranchera and mariachi music, and her latest album “Salón, Lágrimas y Deseo” came out last month.
