A Quick Look At Art&Seek’s Reporting
- World-renowned saxophonist Brad Leali has toured the globe playing music alongside Stevie Wonder, Beyoncé, and Lyle Lovett. But when he’s not touring with icons, he calls North Texas home. In this week’s Artist Spotlight, video producer Dane Walters and I learn how working with students inspires Leali’s playing.
- Lots of North Texans have taken up backyard farming and raising chickens because they want fresh homegrown food. One Flower Mound couple decided to take it one step further. They quit their corporate jobs and pursued a dream. That dream was fresh cheese. Art&Seek’s Therese Powell, introduces us to the local cheese makers at Latte Da Dairy.
- Nearly half-a-billion dollars – that’s what arts and culture organizations pump into Fort Worth’s economy. The Arts Council of Fort Worth partnered with the group Americans for the Arts which studied 341 communities across the entire country – it’s the largest study of its kind. Art & Seek’s Jerome Weeks attended one of the council’s public presentations.
- We North Texans continue to fill our landscape with construction projects – like Toyota’s new headquarters in Plano. Architecture critic Mark Lamster says we need to consider what such developments mean to transit systems and to the environment. In our weekly State of the Arts conversation, Art&Seek’s Jerome Weeks talks with Lamster about architecture meeting the countryside.
