There is still time to see Holiday Art at Art on the Boulevard in Fort Worth. Work that has a holiday theme from nine different artists is on display at the Art Co-op through January 17.

“The Wild Party” presented by Junior Players opens at Moody Performance Hall in Dallas. The play is based on Joseph Moncure March’s 1928 narrative poem and follows two dysfunctional lovers who decide to throw a party in their Manhattan apartment.

Bold Lines: Works By Joseph Glasco continues at the Tyler Museum of Art. The exhibit explores how Glasco’s work has evolved from stylized representational forms to the abstract collage painting and sculpture he is best known.

Friday

The Modern Lights continues at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Go tonight and patrons can enjoy dinner at Cafe Modern with a view of the museum’s festive lighting celebrating the holiday season. Afterward, when you step outside you can get a glimpse of Pioneer Tower at the Will Rogers Complex. The 84-year old art deco building has been newly renovated with LED lights and now stands as a beacon for the Cultural District.

Also in Fort Worth, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra presents National Geographic: Symphony For Our World. The multi-media concert at Bass Performance Hall combines footage from National Geographic with a live orchestra and choir.

And, get ready as Sam Jay brings her standup act to Dallas Comedy House. The comedian is a writer for Saturday Night Live and has been featured on Late Night with Jimmy Kimmel, Comedy Central, MTV, and more.

Saturday/Sunday

In Greenville, the Texan Theater hosts musician Cary Morin on Saturday. The evening includes a multi-course dinner and a performance by the roots and blues artist.

Also on Saturday, head to the Granada Theater in Dallas to see David Bowie cover band, the Thin White Dukes.

“The Color Purple” makes its way to Bass Performance Hall for a one-night-only performance on Sunday, as part of their Broadway Specials Series. This powerful musical features a Grammy-winning score and won a Tony in 2016 for Best Musical Revival.

And in Garland, First United Methodist Church presents Back to Bach, a piano recital by Artist-in-Residence Dr. Eldred Marshall.
