KXT Goes All-In On Texas Music For One-Day Pledge Drive Wednesday
ArtandSeek.net June 23, 2020 30KXT 91.7 is committed to supporting local music. So it makes sense that during its one-day pledge drive Wednesday, the station will only play Texas music throughout the day, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Tune in to hear music from Leon Bridges, Willie Nelson, Erykah Badu, Black Pumas, Sarah Jaffe, Shakey Graves, Gary Clark Jr. and more.
The station is shortening its 10-day drive to one-day, in an effort to prioritize its service to the North Texas community during the COVID-19 pandemic. But KXT still needs to raise the same amount of money it would in 10 days. As of June 22, the goal was $73,000 left to raise.
There’s also an opportunity to make your gift go further and help the community by selecting meals for a local food bank as your thank you gift.
“KXT is prioritizing the music listeners have been relying on over the past several months, and support from KXT listeners will make the drive a success,” said Sarah Worzer, on-air fundraising coordinator for KERA/KXT.
Local artist Claire Morales created a limited-edition KXT artwork called “Immersed In Song.” The artwork can be found on coffee mugs, pint glasses and t-shirts as featured gifts for the KXT summer membership.
“This project was really special for me both as a visual artist and a musician,” Morales said in a statement. “KXT has shown me so much support over the years, playing my songs and having me and my band play at Summer Cut.”
Your contributions support more than the music over the air. They also help the station produce video series, “On The Road,” which features artists from North Texas and beyond. The series has been renamed “On The Couch” and artists have been performing from home during the pandemic. Blues artist Marcus King sings “One Day She’s Here” in the latest edition of the series.
