Good Dog! Your Pooch Can Win Prizes At This Dallas Brewery’s Canine Talent Contest
ArtandSeek.net March 5, 2021 23Everyone knows a dog is a person’s best friend, right?
For the past year they’ve gone on extra walks, listened to your troubles, and in a lot of cases, been your at-home coworker. And throughout it all they haven’t complained once.
If you’d like to reward your BFF (best furry friend) for their service during these unprecedented times, head over to Oak Highlands Brewery this Sunday for an event you’ll both love.
The dog-friendly brewery and taproom has its own Canine Club, and it’s hosting a Talent Contest. The top dog can win some great prizes from local businesses.
“This is our third Canine Club event that we’ve done,” said Ryan Childers, Marketing Director for Oak Highlands Brewery. “We started it back in the fall with a membership drive, and then at Christmas time we did one where dogs could get their picture taken with Santa. We probably had a line of over 100 dogs for that. We’ve always made it known that were a little bit different from other breweries in that we’re very kid and dog friendly.”
Childers says your dog doesn’t have to do anything amazing. Much like David Letterman’s Stupid Pet Tricks, the goal of the contest is just to have fun.
The Dog-o-rama also features White Rock Dog Rescue who will be on hand with puppy kissing stations, dog agility courses, and dog hotels–if you and your dog both need a time out. They’ll also be bringing dogs to visit that are up for adoption so you might just find a new best friend.
The event happens outside in the brewery’s beer garden from 2-5 p.m. Masks are required except while seated.
It’s free to participate in the talent show, but Childers says that if you’d like to join the Oak Highlands Brewery’s Canine Club it’s just $20 and perks include:
- Your dog’s photo and bio on the brewery’s Canine Club Wall
- Special Canine Club pint glass that you can bring back for future visits for a $1 off every beer
- A free beer
- Homemade dog treats made right in the brewery
Childers says Oak Highlands Brewery hosts Canine Club events quarterly so watch their Facebook page for more.
