Theatre Three Returns To Live Performance This Summer, But First They Need Your Help
ArtandSeek.net April 27, 2021 26After a year of virtual shows, Theatre Three is gearing up for a summer tour of live performances around North Texas.
The uptown Dallas theater’s boutique production of The Music Man is intending to make outdoor appearances at a senior center in Coppel, Union Coffee and Texas Discovery Gardens in Dallas.
But first, the theater is looking for help. In an effort to prepare for the cost of producing an in-person production, this week it will be fundraising online to “Fund the Music, Man!”
“Just like every other theater in town, raising money and making money has been difficult because we don’t have people coming into our building,” said Christie Vela, associate artistic director.
From April 26-30, the theater is set to release a series of social media content geared towards the production. Today, Joel Ferrell, the theater’s director of The Music Man will be featured in an episode of “Drunk Musical History.” In addition, Theatre Three will release a sneak peak of new work, a special podcast event and have a QVC style silent auction live stream on Friday. The theater is also looking for donations.
The classic musical is set to run from June 3 to July 4.
Imagine Broadway, the theater’s upcoming virtual production, is a part of its fundraising efforts. On May 1, the exclusive show will feature seven of Dallas’ top vocal talents, such as Megan Kelly Bates, James Chandler, Blake Hackler, Quintin Jones Jr., Denise Lee, Cherish Robinson and Michael Robinson.
The performers will sing Broadway’s best musicals, including some familiar favorites from the theatre’s history.
