A Long Friendship Leads To A $20 Million Gift
ArtandSeek.net January 6, 2017 24Fort Worth’s Amon Carter Museum of American Art announced a $20 million donation this week. The money will be split equally into endowments for education programs and new exhibitions. We won’t see the impact for a year or two, but Executive Director Andrew Walker says that the museum will use the money to create new ways to deepen experiences for everyone from millennials to families. And the gift means the museum can both create new exhibitions and bring in more traveling shows.
The gift came from the Walton Foundation. I sat down with Walker to learn more about the long friendship between the Amon Carter’s founder, Ruth Carter Stevenson and Alice Walton, the Wal-Mart heiress who founded Crystal Bridges in Arkansas.
