Wednesday
David Heath was a remarkable street photographer. See “Multitude, Solitude,” a survey of his early works at the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth.
In Dallas, KXT 91.7 presents Billy Raffoul at Three Links. The Canadian singer/songwriter is getting compared to Neil Young and Jeff Buckley.
Thursday
At the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center in Denton, have fun with a shadow wall, also known as a silhouette wall. Make patterns, take a picture of them and you may win a prize.
Friday
Ten years after he disappeared from the Paris Opera House, the Phantom of the Opera re-appears in the sequel, “Love Never Dies.” See the musical at Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth.
Explore the Moorish origins of flamenco at the Latino Cultural Center in Dallas. The dance and music concert, “El Encuentro Andalous,” features some of flamenco’s most famous songs.
Saturday/Sunday
Throughout the weekend, the Mesquite Community Theater presents the musical, “Curtains.” A detective tries to solve the murder of a leading lady and while also figuring out how to save the show.
Also through the weekend, Allen’s Community Theatre performs “Beauty and the Beast.” It’s not the Disney musical, this is a British pantomime with a cast of children from 6 to 16 and fantastic popular songs from the ’50s to the present.
The ArtCentre Theatre presents William Shakespeare’s beloved romantic comedy of magic, moonlight, and mischief. Of course, it’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” The enchanted play is on stage weekends through Aug. 19.
On Sunday afternoon, Axon Entertainment presents The Singer-Songwriter Series at Fort Worth’s LightCatcher Winery. Food and wine are for sale, but there’s no cover charge.
Monday
Kitchen Dog Theater presents its annual one-minute play festival at SMU in Dallas. You can take in 84 plays by 42 local playwrights starring 60 local actors. That makes a jam-packed night of theater.
Tonight is your last chance to catch “Magic of the Night.” It’s a one-man show by magician Rudy Reynoso presented by the Sherman Community Players. Reynoso developed the show to highlight the more than 70 years the Sherman theater company has been around.
Tuesday
The Elm Street Studio in Keller showcases the works of Fort Worth-based artist Colie Ryan. She works in oil to create rich, brightly-colored, minimalist landscapes. Her show “Bright-Hearted” is on display through Aug. 23.
In Cleburne, the Cleburne Friends of the Cultural Arts present the Texas Showcase. Amateurs and professionals alike are included in the show – the art just needs to exemplify the Lone Star State.
