Thursday
In Fort Worth, this is your last week to see Stage West’s The Royal Society of Antarctica.” Inspired by the playwright’s real life gig as a janitor at McMurdo Station in Antarctica, the show’s delves into why and how far we are willing to run away from our problems.

Texas Theater is screening the 1982 musical comedy “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.” The film will be winding down CinéWilde’s monthly film series. Go early to the Oak Cliff theater for the pre-show conversation and stay late for a trivia game.
Art&Seek’s own Jerome Weeks hosts a State of the Arts discussion tonight at the Kimbell Art Museum. Head there to learn how Fort Worth-based performing arts groups are challenging industry traditions with dynamic staging, innovative programming and audience engagement. Panelists include Kathleen Anderson Culebro from Amphibian Stage Productions, Dana Schultes from Stage West, and Texas Ballet Theater’s Ben Stevenson.

Saturday is a great day to visit the Arts District in Fort Worth. The Amon Carter Museum of American Art is throwing Party on the Porch, an open house with live music from Green River Ordinance, Summer Dean, and the Matt Tedder Trio. There will also be food trucks and docent lead tours of the permanent collection and exhibitions.
Catch “In The Heights,” this weekend at Booker T. Washington High School. The Tony Award-winning musical was the first offering from Lin-Manuel Miranda, the genius behind “Hamilton.” presents “Sordid Lives” That’s a dark comedy about a dysfunctional family who’s lost its matriarch.

Tuesday
New York artist Tom Sachs works within the artistic practice of bricolage, that is, he creates art with whatever materials are at hand. See Sachs’ reworking of a traditional Japanese tea ceremony at Nasher Sculpture Center.
Two recently discovered works by composer, conductor, and champion of American classical music Howard Hanson will be showcased tonight at TCU’s PepsiCo Recital Hall. Piano Sonata, Op. 11, and Symphonic Rhapsody, Op. 14 will be performed by pianist and recording artist Scott Watkins of Jacksonville University.
