It’s April so that means it’s time for Stella the rabbit to run off with the Easter Bunny. For those of you who don’t know, Stella is a stuffed rabbit who first appeared in Rose’s Easter basket the year she turned 3. Every year, about two weeks before Easter, Stella goes “missing.” The explanation for her disappearance is she’s fed up with being a toy and wants to be a wild rabbit. So she runs away with the Easter Bunny. But don’t worry. She always comes home Easter morning where she magically reappears in Rose’s Easter basket.
We’re on our sixth year of Stella’s annual rabbit sabbatical. The romp has been loads of fun, but this year is bittersweet. It seems as though this might be Stella’s last trip to the wild side. Rose desperately wants to believe, but sadly I think the gig is up. Just like Peeps, the magic of the Easter Bunny has a shelf life.
Since our “bunny” days are numbered I’m trying to make the most of this Easter season. Saturday we dyed eggs and later had a cascaronas (confetti eggs) war with friends. And instead of going solo, Stella is taking Penelope the Bear along on her last rendezvous with the Easter Bunny.
You can make the most of bunny season with your little chickens with one of these Easter events.
Looking for an Eggstravaganza? You can find one at First United Methodist Church Denton. The fun starts Saturday morning with a pancake breakfast, Easter crafts, Egg Hunt and a petting zoo. You can also have your picture taken with the Easter Bunny and have your face painted by a professional face painter.
The Easter Bunny will also be making an appearance at Reunion Tower this weekend. You can get a photo with E.B. enjoy Easter activities, treats and a balloon artist. If you miss him this weekend, don’t worry. He’ll be back again next weekend.
Big things are happening at Heritage Park in Sachse this Saturday. Start the day with Easter Egg Scramble. The Easter Bunny will be hiding candy and special “prize” eggs for three age categories; 2 to 4 years of age; 5 to 7 years of age; and 8 to 10 years of age. Come back at 7:30 p.m. for a special Doggie Bone Hunt. Dogs participating in the hunt will be divided into groups based on weight and will be required to be on a leash at all times. You can also enter your furry friend into a best dressed or cutest contest, or snap a pic of Fido with the Easter Bunny. But wait, don’t go yet! Be sure to stick around for the Flashlight Egg Hunt after the Dog Bone Hunt. That’s right, grab the flashlight (make sure it has fresh batteries) and join the fun in the dark. Kids ages 5-13 can search for eggs stuffed with candy. The person who finds the golden egg wins a special prize.
Last one in the pool is a candy egg! That’s right, the Frisco Athletic Center invites kids ages 2-10 to splash around in its indoor pool for an Aqua Egg Hunt this Saturday. Admission includes: egg hunt, swim pass for the day and a special treat from the Easter Bunny. The center will provide a mesh bag to collect your eggs in the pool, but you’ll need to bring your own basket to take them home.
