Flickr Photo Of The Week
ArtandSeek.net December 15, 2015 21
Congratulations to Brendan T. Kelly of Fort Worth, the winner of the Flickr Photo of the Week contest. Brendan is a first time winner of our little contest. He follows last week’s winner, Widad ES-SOUFI of Aix en Provence, France.
If you would like to participate in the Flickr Photo of the Week contest, all you need to do is upload your photo to our Flickr group page. It’s fine to submit a photo you took earlier than the current week, but we are hoping that the contest will inspire you to go out and shoot something fantastic this week to share with Art&Seek users. If the picture you take involves a facet of the arts, even better. The contest week will run from Tuesday to Monday, and the Art&Seek staff will pick a winner on Friday afternoon. We’ll notify the winner through FlickrMail (so be sure to check those inboxes) and ask you to fill out a short survey to tell us a little more about yourself and the photo you took. We’ll post the winners’ photo on Tuesday.
Now here’s more from Brendan.
Title of photo: “Finding Myself”
Equipment: Nikon D7000 with a 18-200 mm lens
Tell us more about your photo: When I am out and about I look for images that are new and refreshing. Pictures that you may not see or a unique take on an old classic. I was exploring around the arts district in Fort Worth, enjoying a beautiful day. Walking down Will Rogers Way on the west side of the Kimbell and the trees simply caught my eye. The blue sky was bold and made for a nice backdrop. But I wanted to capture them from a different angle, so I leaned up against the tree and made a few images. When I got home and started playing with the shots the black and white simply spoke to me more (my first passion is B&W). I felt it was more dramatic and lent itself to tell more of a story. The title “Finding Myself” was inspired by getting lost in the limbs as I enjoyed the image.
