Born and raised in Denton, Bates has been working for GDAC for 4 years. Ten years of exhibition design and development experience have included time working for art centers, international diplomacy centers, presidential libraries, and small local history museums in Texas, Virginia, and Washington DC.
Kathy J. Brown, instructor, Department of Art Education, UNT College of Visual Art and Design
Brown teaches undergraduate and graduate-level courses in the Department of Art Education of the UNT College of Visual Art and Design. Recently, her hand-sewn fibers piece, a “garment” of African-inspired and African-printed fabrics titled “Clothes You Can’t Remove: Pre and Post Breonna Taylor,” was accepted to the 2021 Materials: Hard + Soft International Contemporary Craft Competition and Exhibition. The piece also won first place in its category at the Texas Art Education Association Annual Members Show.
Treena Muir, graphic designer and photographer
Muir studied graphic design and photography in England and currently works as a senior designer and art director in North Texas. In addition to being a professional designer, she owns her own portrait photography business, TM Imagery.
Stephen Souris, English professor, Texas Woman’s University
Souris is an English professor at Texas Woman’s University where he teaches American literature . He is also the producer of Professor’s Corner: A Literary Discussion Group at the Denton South Branch Library.
