KXT’s new Sun Sets series has new, intimate, outdoor venue – the Dallas Arboretum — that’ll still accommodate more people than The Pool @ Dallas Power & Light, the previous venue. And it’ll have an eight-concert line-up that mixes local and national acts again. The line-up will be announced soon — and you’ll want to be on top of that because, last time, some of the shows sold out quick. Previous acts have included The Wind + The Wave, John Doe (punk bandleader of X) and the Fantastic Negrito (above).

KXT ANNOUNCES RETURN OF SUMMER CONCERT SERIES, KXT SUN SETS

The Dallas Arboretum serves as verdant new venue

DALLAS/FORT WORTH — KXT 91.7 FM announces its signature concert series KXT Sun Sets returns this summer with eight concerts at a new venue, the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. The intimate, outdoor series will be held on select Tuesday evenings beginning in May.

The lush gardens of the Dallas Arboretum and nearby White Rock Lake will serve as a verdant setting for the series, which pairs local and national artists for a unique concert experience. The new venue will maintain the intimate listening environment audiences have come to expect from KXT Sun Sets, while accommodating increased capacity from last year’s venue, THE POOL @ Dallas Power & Light. Season passes and single-day tickets to KXT Sun Sets sold out within hours during the inaugural series in 2016.

“We were blown away by the audience response to KXT Sun Sets last year, so we’re thrilled to be able to offer more listeners the chance to experience the series,” said Amy Miller, KXT program director. “The Dallas Arboretum will be a beautiful place to spend the evenings listening to live music this summer.”

KXT Sun Sets will feature eight concerts on select dates from May through July. The lineup and schedule will be announced soon. Previous artists who have performed at KXT Sun Sets include Fantastic Negrito, Barns Courtney, The Wind + The Wave and more.

The series will take place at the Camp Lawn of the Dallas Arboretum, which overlooks the shores of White Rock Lake. Given the park-like atmosphere of the venue, audiences are invited to bring food or beverages and enjoy the series on a picnic blanket or lawn chairs.

In order to accommodate the expansion of KXT Sun Sets to a larger venue and make the series more accessible to listeners, KXT will not host the Summer Cut music festival in 2017. Because KXT Sun Sets is an increasingly popular and sought-after series, KXT will focus its resources on creating the best possible concert experience for more listeners and providing a live connection to what audiences hear on the radio: a one-of-a-kind platform for discovering new, local and legendary music.

Season passes to KXT Sun Sets will be available at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 13. Tickets are available as thank-you gifts when you contribute at kxt.org.
