TACA Gives $304,000 In Its First Cycle of Emergency Grants

ArtandSeek.net 29

TACA announced back in March that it was establishing an Emergency Arts Relief Fund. Grants of up to $10,000 would be made available to nonprofit arts groups in two cycles, one at the end of April, the other at the end of May. What was a $350,000 fund has grown to more than $600,000 — and TACA President Terry Loftis says, originally, his goal was only $150,000.

Now the first cycle of grants has been announced — with $304,000 going to 50 mostly smaller-to-mid-size organizations — from the  Bishop Arts Theatre Center to the Voices of Change, Teatro Dallas to the Plano Symphony Orchestra.

Here is Loftis’ letter of announcement with a complete list of the recipients. Applications for the second cycle are due May 14.

Dear TACA Family,

It is with gratitude that I share with you today the grantees of the first cycle of TACA’s Emergency Arts Relief Fund. Grants totaling $304,000 will be distributed to 50 nonprofit arts organizations in North Texas. A listing of the organizations receiving Emergency Arts Relief Fund grants can be found below.

TACA’s Emergency Arts Relief Fund was created in late March through the generous partnership of numerous local foundations and donors contributing $350,000 and has grown to exceed $600,000. The goal of the Fund is to provide short-term immediate relief to Dallas nonprofit arts organizations who have experienced lost revenue or increased expenses due to Coronavirus/COVID-19 precautionary measures.

The second cycle of grants is already underway with applications due by May 14 and grantees announced by May 29.

Wishing safety and health to all,

Terry D. Loftis
