The Big Deal: Timeless Tales, Treasured Tellers Concert At The Texas Storytelling Festival
ArtandSeek.net March 4, 2015 29Now let me tell you a little story. Years ago, a storyteller in Denton decided he wanted to put on a storytelling festival. Well, that Dentonite did and that inaugural festival sparked a fire in all those who participated in the event. It wasn’t long after that they decided to form a group, and they called their group the Tejas Storytelling Association. Their mission – to foster the appreciation of storytelling as an oral tradition and as a performing art. Thirty years later and the Texas Storytelling Festival is four-day festival packed full of events. There are workshops, a liars contest, a place where you can hear ghost and sacred tales, a Saturday Kids’ Day, and evening concerts for adults. The festival runs March 12 through March 15 at the Denton Civic Center. For this Big Deal win a pair of tickets to the Saturday, March 14 evening concert, Timeless Tales, Treasured Tellers with featured Festival Tellers: Elizabeth Ellis, James Ford, Gayle Ross and Barbara McBride Smith. Get there early and see the pre-show concert with David Goodroe.
Don’t slap a “The End” tag to this story just yet. Go ahead and sign up for our other Big Deals this week – tickets to see the Church Basement Ladies in The Last (Potluck) Supper at the Eisemann Center in Richardson, or tickets to the Bluegrass Heritage Foundation’s Lone Star Fest in Richardson.
