The Duchess of Alba in White, 1795. Francisco de Goya y Lucientes

This year the Meadows Museum’s has been celebrating 50 Years of Spanish Art in Texas. Part of the celebratory events includes the current blockbuster exhibition, Treasures from the House of Alba: 500 Years of Art and Collecting. The exhibition is an impressive collection of paintings, illuminated manuscripts, books, historic documents, antiquities, sculpture, and other objects, or as Art&Seek’s Jerome Weeks reported last month, “A sprawling heap of pleasures and rarities.” One hundred and forty objects tell the story of 500 years of history in Europe through the collecting interests of one of Spain’s wealthiest families. Enter to win a pair of tickets to see the mega exhibition before Jan. 3 and before the treasures are crated and sent back to the Spanish palaces they adorn.

The remaining month of October promises to be cooler nights and the perfect time to take advantage of two of our Big Deals this week. Choose to enjoy an outdoor concert to Strauss Square Uncovered featuring Bidi Bidi Banda, the Music of Selena, or with VIP seating for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra concert and NorthPark Center with a picnic dinner from Green House Market. Or being the family person that you are, perhaps you will want to sign up to win family passes to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science at Victory Park to see the Creatures of Light: Nature’s Bioluminescence, traveling exhibition.

PLEASE NOTE: Only Art&Seek e-newsletter subscribers can win the Big Deal.  If you are not a subscriber take care of that first, then sign up below for a chance to see Treasures from the House of Alba: 500 Years of Art and Collecting at the Meadows Museum on the SMU campus.
