The Big Screen: Thin Line Preview
ArtandSeek.net April 18, 2018 27Denton’s annual Thin Line Fest plays documentaries in an effort to examine the “thin line” between fact and fiction. The festival also features photography and music, and this week we preview the film component with its programmer. Among the films that jumped off the schedule for us:
Elk River Sessions – Twenty musicians from Denton head to a cabin in the Ozarks to create an album that gains additional significance for one of its creators. (Thursday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 7:30 p.m.)
The Cleaners – A look at the people who Silicon Valley outsources to scour the web for questionable images – everything from graphic depictions of war to pornography – and how their work impacts how we see the world. (Friday at 6:15 p.m. and Sunday at 8 p.m.)
Dance Hall Days – Dance halls have long been a part of Texas culture, though they’re slowly dying out. This film looks at the effort to save them before they’re gone.
