Last fall, Lyric Stage in Irving mounted a revival of the rarely produced sung-through musical The Golden Apple. Even though the show has a unique cult following, most fans had never seen the show produced nor had they heard the music in its entirety; the original cast recording only includes 48 minutes of the 135-minute show. But PS Classics is making sure the musical is around for new audiences to hear in the form of a two-disc cast recording – featuring the Lyric Stage revival cast. The four Lyric Stage performances were recorded and are being mixed, and the new cast recording of The Golden Apple will be released May 19, 2015.
