Alan Melson


Alan Melson is Vice President for Digital at KERA. He is responsible for team that oversees all station digital properties, and serves as co-lead for the station’s Audience Development team.

Alan joined KERA in 2007, helping lead development of a robust digital presence including a network of websites, mobile apps, live streams, on-demand video content and podcasts.

KERA’s digital audience has quadrupled over the past decade, reaching millions of users each year. The organization has won accolades for websites and online content, including awards from the Online News Association, Texas Associated Press Broadcasters and the Radio Television Digital News Association.

Prior to KERA, Alan spent seven years with Belo Corporation, including four years as a digital and assignments editor at WFAA-TV and three years as a digital news editor for The Dallas Morning News.

He graduated with a degree in journalism from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.
